Our Approach to Auto Injuries

At Spine In Motion Chiropractic Rehab of San Antonio, Texas, we have helped many people who have been injured in car accidents.  We believe that it is important for patients to be evaluated by a  provider who is familiar with these injuries to ensure an accurate diagnosis.

Depending on your area of complaint, the mechanism of injury, and your pain intensity, we can customize a plan for you that will help you heal quickly and return to your pre-accident state.

Why Should you Seek Chiropractic care after Car Accident

After a car accident, you may not feel pain immediately. Some people say this is due to the rush of adrenaline from the shock of this traumatic event. However, the pain may increase over time, and become so intense activities of daily living can become unbearable.

Medications may help, but due to the extreme forces that occur during auto accidents, there are changes to structures and the soft tissues of the body. If left untreated, these changes can lead to chronic pain and the beginning of degenerative processes.

After a certain amount of change has happened, it is increasingly difficult to go back to the pre-accident state.

Chiropractic care is focused on identifying these changes and correcting them. Patients who seek Chiropractic care after a MVA report noticeable reduction in their symptoms after the first few visits. Many of these patients report resolution of their injuries after completing their treatment plan.

Techniques:

Chiropractic Adjustments

Also referred to as spinal manipulations, these adjustments offer a quick, controlled manual thrust to a targeted joint, usually in the back or neck, but can also be applied to other joints. This solution often inspires immediate relief from pain and restores mobility.

The Graston Technique

This technique uses small Chiropractic tools that serve to break down scar tissue with much more intention and swiftness than using hands alone. Scar tissue can cause many problems, including pain and loss of range of motion; when it’s effectively broken down, the body’s natural function will be restored.

Activator Technique

The Activator Technique uses a spring-loaded, handheld instrument to adjust a targeted area. It offers a quick, low-impact impulse at any specific point of the body that is injured.

Laser Therapy

Dr. Bailey uses Class IV Laser Therapy to promote relaxation in the harmed area of the body. This is the strongest laser therapy of its kind and offers immediate relief. A wand will be applied to pressed into the tissue, warmth will be generated, and the affected area will feel calm and loose.

Kinesio Tape

Often used on our athletic patients, this therapy applies a specialty tape to the skin over the affected area. It creates comfort, alleviating pain and swelling as it provides support to the joints and muscles.

Decompression Deep Compression Therapy

We use this FDA approved safe therapy on the lower back and neck. It helps pump and hydrate the return spinal discs, which allows them to return to their correct position. This restores the contribution to the body’s full function and mobility.

Dry Needling

Dr. Bailey is certified in this effective treatment. Using thin acupuncture needles placed in the affected areas’ muscles, tendons, or ligaments; the pain will be minimized, and muscles relax, releasing tension.

Cupping

Cupping dates back thousands of years and is a form of care that uses suction to ease tension, stress, and pain. Placing cups on the affected area back, the skin and tissues will slightly lift, allowing increased blood flow to the areas in need.

Functional Rehabilitation Therapy and Corrective Exercises

We will create an exercise regimen to complement and coincide with your Chiropractic therapies solutions to achieve quicker long-lasting results. Keeping in mind your ability, goals, and safety, you will be able to practice these exercises at home or office and use them to proactively care for your body in the future.

Myofascial Release

Sometimes muscles shorten after injury or trauma, and this may cause painful or uncomfortable movement. At Spine In Motion Chiropractic Rehab, we use manual muscle techniques to increase motion and reduce pain.

Frequently Asked Auto Injury Questions

How soon after my accident should I come for treatment?

Our philosophy is the sooner, the better. We know that old injuries take longer to fix, so the sooner we see you after the accident, the quicker you will heal.

I am in a lot of pain from my accident. Should I still come in while I hurt.

Absolutely. We have many treatment methods that can help to quickly reduce your pain. The sooner we get started, the sooner you can get back to normal.

How long will it take for me to get better?

The simple answer is it depends. Everyone’s condition is different. However, some patients are symptom-free in as little as 3-4 visits. Some patients require more time to heal and are under care for up to 12 visits or more.

Do I need an attorney to be seen?

No. We can work with insurance companies directly to get you the care you need. In the event you need or prefer to have an attorney work on your behalf, we can refer you to San Antonio’s top attorneys.
